Mario is arguably the most famous video-game character of all time. When first appearing as "Jumpman" in 1981's smash-hit Donkey Kong, no-one knew that he would become the most famous video-game character ever, however just as for pure luck he became popular enough to get his own game. Then another. Then another. Then another. Mario has appeared in over 200 video games to date. He's that popular. He's also the only character to be featured in nearly every Smash Bros. game with the exceptions of Super Smash Sisters 1 and Super Smash Sisters 2.

Colonel:"Snake, you know who that is?"
Snake:"You're kidding right? It's Mario."
Colonel:"Mario made his first appearance in 1981, and since then, he's become a worldwide phenomenon. There's probably not a single person who doesn't know Mario. He's that famous."
Snake:"Good thing I survived long enough to face him on the field of battle."
Colonel:"This is a once-in-a-lifetime chance, Snake. Now get out there and show him what you're made of. No regrets."
Snake:"Got it."
