Little Mac (リトル・マック Ritoru Makku?) is the main character of the NES, SNES, and Wii titles in Punch-Out!! He has black hair, wears a black tank top with green trunks and gloves, and is described as being 17 years old, 4 ft 8 in (5 ft 7 in in the Wii version, according to the May 2009 issue of Game Informer), 107 lb (49 kg)., and hailing from the Bronx, New York. While his ethnicity is not officially known, pro boxer Paul Malignaggi, who portrayed Little Mac in the commercial for the Wii version of Punch-Out!!, hinted that he is Italian-American. Mac's signature move is a powerful jumping uppercut called the "Star Punch", taught to him by his trainer Doc Louis.

Character Description

Outside of video games, Little Mac featured as the protagonist in the Punch-Out!! stories featured in Valiant Comics' Nintendo Comics System, appearing in the stories "The First Fight", "Outsiders", and "Fox and Hounds." Mac also makes a cameo in the prologue short of the Captain N comic books. He has also appeared as an Assist Trophy in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, voiced by Hisao Egawa. In the Wii version of Punch-Out!!, he is voiced by Matt Harty, a sound designer for Next Level Games. The SNES version of Super Punch-Out features a muscular blonde-haired character as the protagonist; Nintendo has been inconsistent regarding his identity. According to the May 2009 issue of Nintendo Power, Bryce Holliday, one of the main developers of the Wii version of Punch-Out, states that the player character in Super Punch-Out is not Little Mac. However, during the North American and European Virtual Console releases of the SNES title, Nintendo of America and Europe have claimed that Little Mac is in the SNES game The history section of official website for the Wii version of Punch-Out!! also states that the character is Little Mac. According to Nintendo of America, the SNES title takes place after the events of the NES and Wii titles of the series; Little Mac looks different because he was given a makeover, and his repertoire has expanded since separating from Doc Louis, " including the "Knockout Punch" and the "Rapid Punch". Before the SNES Super Punch-Out!! was finished and released, some screenshots and video footage of the prototype seen in gaming magazines and two official television commercials showed him with a different look compared to his final version seen in the finished and released version. Nintendo Power listed Little Mac as their 11th favourite hero, stating that he taught gamers that more intimidating foes can be overcome by patience, persistence, and "pattern recognition".&nbsp In the arcade version of Punch-Out!! and Super Punch-Out!!, and Nintendo Arm Wrestling, the person with green hair claims to be Little Mac.

Melee Attacks

Little Mac, being a boxer, can deal heavy melee attacks with lots of damage and knockback. He is one of the fastest characters and also pretty strong making him a high tier.

Special Moves

Gutter Punch

Gutter Punch is Little Mac's neutral special in Super Smash Bros. Universe and is preformed by pressing the B button. Little Mac makes a downwards motion with his arm and then punches in the stomach of the opponent. The move can be compared with Falcon Punch, as it goes automatically, but goes faster and does less damage.


Hook is Little Mac's side special in Super Smash Bros. Universe and is preformed by pressing side and B. Little Mac does a hook punch which deals decent damage but almost no knockback, if he makes contact with the opponent and continue pressing B rapidly he will rapidly punch further for a few seconds.


Uppercut is Little Mac's up special in Super Smash Bros. Universe and is preformed by pressing up and B. Little Mac will deal a quick uppercut to send the opponent into the air. The move has many knoackback but deals less damage. He can charge this move up so send the opponent higher and do a bit more damage.

Dodge Punch

Dodge Punch is Little Mac's down special in Super Smash Bros. Universe and is preformed by pressing down and B. Little Mac dodged by bending over, he then also swings with his glove against the legs of the opponent to let them trip. The opponent is then left open for Little Mac to attack.

Star Punch

Star Punch is a special move preformed by Little Mac Super Smash Bros. Universe and is preformed by pressing the A and B button at the same time. Little Mac does a normal forward punch which does minor damage. But he can charge this move up as stars appear above his head while doing so. When reached 1 Star he can stun the foe when hit. Reaching 2 Stars he can paralyse the foe and when reached 3 Stars he does a punch that is even stronger than Falcon Punch.

Giga Mac

Giga Mac is Little Mac's Final Smash in Super Smash Bros. Universe. Little Mac transforms into Giga Mac, in that state his whole moveset is boost up. He can create much damage with only melee attacks and when used a special attack he mostly KO's the opponent.


  • Entrance: Jumps over the ropes of the ring.
  • Taunts:
    • Standard: Punches in the air.
    • Side: Hold his hand out and says: "Let's fight!"
    • Down: Rapidly punches forwards. (not an attack)
  • Revival Platform: a minature boxing ring.
  • Fanfare: Punch Out Victory
  • Wins: Hold his hand up in the air.
  • Loses: Falls on the ground unconsious.
