Bowser Jr. (クッパJr.Kuppa Junia) is Bowser's eighth and youngest child. He is the Koopa King's favorite offspring and the heir to the throne, outranking his seven older siblings. Bowser Jr. first appeared in Super Mario Sunshine and has helped Bowser kidnap Princess Peach and battle the Mario Bros. in many subsequent games. Bowser Jr. wants nothing more than to do his father's evil will, and Bowser's rarely seen emotional side is often brought out by his interactions with his son.

Character Description

Bowser Jr. first appeared in Super Mario Sunshine and disguised himself as Shadow Mario in Super Mario Sunshine and spread toxic goop across Delfino Isle. He was tricked by Bowser into thinking that Peach was his mother and that Mario and Bowser had reversed roles. Unaware of this, Mario, Princess Peach and Toadsworth headed to the island for a vacation and Mario was taken in by the police. Being framed by Bowser Jr., Mario and F.L.U.D.D. had to clear the waste from the island and uncover who truly caused this mess, when it was later revealed to be Bowser Jr. and Bowser.

Bowser Jr. appears as the mid boss of all of the New Super Mario Bros. worlds. It is also notable that during this game (following the death of his father) he leads the Koopa Troop and it is in fact he who kidnaps Peach in the beginning of the game.

In Super Mario Galaxy for the Wii, Bowser Jr. would send out colossal beasts to do his bidding for him, excluding one instance where he directly fought Mario through an Airship. The two first encountered each other in Galaxy when he sent out a large robot that Mario had to climb in order to destroy. In his second appearance, Bowser Jr. and his armada of airships was raided by Mario and concluded with Mario destroying the primary ship by launching Koopa Troopa shells toward it. During his last boss appearance in the game, he sent out an enraged King Kaliente to fight Mario. During the climax of the game, Bowser Jr. was thrust into an exploding sun. Miraculously, he survived, as seen in the ending movie.

Bowser Jr. appears in New Super Mario Bros. Wii along with Bowser and the Koopalings. He appears to be the leader of the attack on Princess Peach's Castle. During the game, the player must fight him in an Airship. Each time the player battles him, he uses a Koopa Clown Car. He is also seen after the credits of the game, directing his siblings to move his unconscious father.

Just as in the first game, Bowser Jr. orders boss monsters to attack Mario in Super Mario Galaxy 2, although he only does this in World 1. Otherwise, he fits Mario head on. In this game he seems to have less of a connection with his (now gargantuan) father, and is never seen alongside him in boss battles. After World 5, Bowser Jr. is blasted out of his Boomsday machine and off screen. His current fate is unknown.

Melee Attacks

For Bowser Jr's Melee Attacks his Magic Paintbrush is used. He can swipe with it and can create decent damage with it. He also sometimes uses his claws and tail for attacks but these are only a few attacks. Although he uses Super Mario Sunshine's paintbrush he isn't able to turn into Shadow Mario anymore for attacking.

Special Moves

Fire Shot

Fire Shot is Bowser Jr.'s special move that is preformed by simply pressing the B button. When preformed Bowser Jr. will shoot a ball of fire forwards in a straight line, unlike the Fireballs or Mario and Luigi that bounce on the ground. Bowser Jr. can use this move three times after each other but then has to wait before he can use it again. The fire shots go on fast speed and do average damage and knockback, so good to use to keep an opponent away.

Shell Toss

Shell Toss is Bowser Jr.'s side special preformed by going sidewards and then press the B button. Bowser Jr. will pull out one of the Koopa shells that appear in the Mario games and then can throw it away. Bowser Jr. can pull out 5 different shells. You have 50% change to pull out a Green Shell, when thrown it will slide forwards until it falls of the stage or it will bounce back from a wall. You have 20% change to pull out a Red Shell that will follow the opponent. You have 15% change to pull out a Yellow Shell that will stun the opponent when hit. And you have 5% change to pull out a Spiny Shell that will fly through the air and cause a huge explosion when it comes back and hits one of the opponents.

Koopa Clown Car

Koopa Clown Car is the up special of Bowser Jr. that it is preformed by pressing Up and B. Bowser Jr. jumps into his own version of the Koopa Clow Car. He then can temporarily fly in the Koopa Clown Car and can use it as a good horizontal and vertical recovery. When people come in contact with the propeller on the bottom of the Kooap Clown Car they will receive small damage, similar when someone touches Peach's Parasol.

Bullet Blaster

Bullet Blaster is Bowser Jr.'s down special which preformed by pressing Down and B. Bowser Jr. places a Bullet Bill Blaser on the ground that then shoots a Bullet Bill straight forwards and high speed. When it hits the opponent they will receive average damage. When used in the air Bowser Jr. will hold the blaser diagonally downwards and shoot a Bullet Bill. On some occations a Missile Bill will be fired which follows the opponents until it hits something.

Sonic Roar

Sonic Roar is a special attack preformed by Bowser Jr. by pressing the A and B button at the same time. When Bowser Jr. uses this move he starts to scream very loud and sonars can be seen out of his mouth. Anyone who gets into the roar will shrink, the same height as you get shrinked by lightning. Bowser Jr. can walk around while using this move but can't jump.


Bowser Jr.'s Airship
Airship is Bowser Jr.'s Final Smash. Bowser Jr. laughs and then jumps out of the screen, a second after that he appears again but now standing on his Airship on the background of the stage. Bowser Jr. can move around horizontal and vertical on the background and is able to shoot Bullet and Missile Bills out of the canons. Unlike the Bullet and Missile Bills from his down special these Bills do massive damage and mostly KO's the opponent after getting hit by two Bullet Bills, depending on the current damage of the opponent.


  • Entrance: Spins on stage in his shell and pops out of it.
  • Taunts:
    • Standard: Spins around with his paintbrush and does his childish laugh.
    • Side: Tries to immitate Bowser with a light roar.
    • Down: Briefly turns into Shadow Mario.
  • Revival Platform: A little version of his Airship from Super Mario Galaxy.
  • Fanfare: 7 seconds of Super Mario Galaxy: Junior's Theme
  • Wins: Jumps up and down and swirls his hair around.
  • Loses: Cries on the floor.
