8-Bit Mario is an 8-Bit version of mario.

- Neutral: Retro Mario throws a fireball, which bounces once and then vanishes.
- Combo: Retro Mario throws three fireballs.
- F-Tilt: Retro Mario plays his swimming animation, damaging anyone who hits him.
- U-Tilt: A Brick Block appears above Retro Mario's head, which he breaks.
- D-Tilt: Retro Mario does his dying animation, landing back on the ground.
- Dash: Retro Mario jumps, doing damage.
- F-Smash: Retro Mario throws three fireballs in a row, which bounce more the more the attack was charged.
- U-Smash: Retro Mario turns into Super Mario, damaging opponents with his head as he grows, before shrinking back down.
- D-Smash: Retro Mario temporarily turns into Invincible Mario, damaging anyone who collides with him. He will stay invincible for the same amount of time as the move was charged.
- N-Air: Retro Mario plays his swimming animation, damaging anyone who hits him.
- F-Air: Three coins appear in front of Retro Mario, damaging anyone they hit, and he automatically moves to grab them.
- B-Air: Three coins appear behind Retro Mario, damaging anyone they hit, and he automatically moves to grab them.
- U-Air: Retro Mario plays his dying animation, damaging anyone as long as he is in that pose and getting a small boost in height.
- D-Air: A Brick Block appears under Retro Mario, catching him and remaining there until he moves off of it or someone attacks it.
- Grab: An 8-bit Bullet Bill Blaster appears in front of Retro Mario. Anyone who is standing where it spawns will be teleported into it.
- Pummel: Retro Mario jumps at the Bullet Bill Blaster.
- F-Throw: The opponent is launched straight forward by the Blaster.
- B-Throw: The opponent is launched straight backward by the Blaster.
- U-Throw: The Blaster grows in height before firing the opponent forward.
- D-Throw: The Blaster completely vanishes, dropping the opponent, and Retro Mario jumps onto the opponent.
- Floor-F: Retro Mario jumps straight up.
- Floor-B: Retro Mario jumps straight up.
- Floor-T: Retro Mario jumps straight up.
- Edge: Retro Mario jumps straight up.
- Neutral Special - Koopa Shell: An 8-bit Koopa Shell appears in front of Retro Mario, and he kicks it.
- Custom 1 - Giant Koopa Shell: The Koopa Shell is bigger and does more damage, but is slower.
- Custom 2 - Red Koopa Shell: The Koopa Shell is red and acts like a Red Shell from Melee, but does less damage than the normal shell.
- Side Special - Hammer Bro.: An 8-bit Hammer Bro. appears in front of Retro Mario and throws three hammers before vanishing.
- Custom 1 - Double Bro.: A Hammer Bro. appears on either side of Retro Mario, but they only throw one hammer each.
- Custom 2 - Lakitu: An 8-bit Lakitu appears instead and drops a single Spiny Egg, which turns into Spiny and walks straight forward until it collides with something, at which point it vanishes.
- Up Special - Super Jump Punch: Identical to Mario's up special.
- Custom 1 - Super Jump Paratroopa: An 8-bit Paratroopa appears at the end of the jump, boosting Retro Mario even higher. However, the jump does no damage.
- Custom 2 - Beanstalk: An 8-bit beanstalk appears and Retro Mario automatically climbs straight up it before it vanishes. Does no damage and has no horizontal recovery, but has a better vertical recovery.
- Down Special - Fire Bar: An 8-bit Fire Bar appears under Retro Mario and makes one full rotation before vanishing. However, Retro Mario cannot move while it is in place, leaving him vulnerable. If Retro Mario is damaged, the Fire Bar vanishes.
- Custom 1 - Speedy Fire Bar: The Fire Bar spins quicker three times, making it harder to hit Retro Mario without being hit by the Fire Bar, but the Fire Bar does less damage.
- Custom 2 - Long-Range Fire Bar: The Fire Bar is longer and does more damage, but only makes half a spin and never covers Retro Mario, leaving him more vulnerable.
- Final Smash - Flagpole: Retro Mario does his "taunt" from Super Mario Maker and a shockwave is emitted from him. Anyone caught in it is teleported to a cinematic taking place in an 8-bit world, where Retro Mario jumps onto the top of the Flagpole, doing massive damage to all caught fighters and sending them flying. Once the fighters return to the stage, each fighter who is KO'd by the Final Smash causes an 8-bit firework to go off, damaging anyone it catches.
- In Super Smash Bros. Ultra he is a playable character.
- In Super Smash Bros. REVOLUTION he is also playable.
- In Super Smash Bros. X he is playable as well.
A good way to defeat the character is to attack him from behind.
